Linear Equation

Using GRAPHER, find out what kind of GRAPH will represent each of these EQUATIONS. Note, in this instance, you’ll only need to enter the LHS of each of these EQUATIONS to plot it’s graph.

What kind(s) of graphs are portrayed through these equations?

  3. a) A line that is rising up mildly towards the right and passes through x and y axis. It cuts the x axis at -36 and cuts the y axis at 9.

    b) A line that is dropping a lot towards the left and passes through x and y axis. It cuts the x axis at 0.4 and cuts the y axis at 2.

    c) A line that is rising a lot towards the right and passes through x and y axis. It cuts the x axis at 0.3 and cuts the y axis at -0.75

    d) A line that is rising towards the right and passes through x and y axis. It cuts the x axis at 5 and cuts the y axis at about 2.2

  5. a) The line is pointed diagonally to the right. The line meets x axis at point -36.0 and meets y axis at point 9.0.
    b) The line is pointed diagonally to the left. The line meets x axis at point 0.4 and meets y axis at point 2.0.
    c) The line is pointed diagonally to the right. The line meets x axis at point 0.30 and meets axis y at point 0.75.
    d) The line is pointed diagonally to the right. The line meets x axis at point 5.0 and meets y axis at point 2.14.

  6. a) The line is positioned diagonally to the right. The line passes through the Y axis. If X is 0, Y would be 9.
    b) The line is positioned diagonally to the left. The line passes through the X and Y axis. If X is 1, Y would be 2.
    c) The line is positioned diagonally to the right. The line passes the X and Y axis. If X is 1, Y would be -1.
    d) The line is positioned diagonally to the right. The line passes through the X and Y axis. If X is 5, Y would be 2.14.

  12. interesting discussion above:
Could see the following concepts emerging:
    .1 gradient
    .2 intercept
.3 angle and ratio (sine and cosine)
    .4 line properties including diagonals
